Inflorescence Architecture and Floral Morphology of Aratitiyopea lopezii (Xyridaceae)
نویسنده
چکیده
Aratitiyopea lopezii is a robust perennial species of Xyridaceae from seasonally saturated, midto high-elevation, sandstone and granite sites in northern South America. The species lacks the scapose inflorescence characteristic of Xyridaceae and, having the gestalt of a rhizomatous bromeliad, it is seemingly aberrant in the family. However, closer examination confirms features consistent with the family and the previously noted morphological similarities to Orectanthe. Details of inflorescence structure and floral morphology are presented and compared to other genera of Xyridaceae.

Functional associations of floret and inflorescence traits among grass species.
The aerodynamics of wind pollination selects for an intimate relation between form and function in anemophilous plants. Inflorescence architecture and floral morphology vary extensively within the Poaceae, but the functional implication of this variation remains largely unknown. Here we quantify associations between floret, culm, and inflorescence characteristics for 25 grass species in Kananas...

Duration of various stages of inflorescence differentiation and hormone levels in apical buds eventually decide the harvest time, flower uniformity and quality of ornamental plants. The progress in inflorescence differentiation process in the chrysanthemum cultivar ‘Jingyun’ can be divided into nine stages. Following short day induction, it took 4d to reach the growing point hypertrophy stage, ...
متن کاملQuantitative trait loci for inflorescence development in Arabidopsis thaliana.
Variation in inflorescence development patterns is a central factor in the evolutionary ecology of plants. The genetic architectures of 13 traits associated with inflorescence developmental timing, architecture, rosette morphology, and fitness were investigated in Arabidopsis thaliana, a model plant system. There is substantial naturally occurring genetic variation for inflorescence development...

Specification of floral organ identity is critical for the establishment of floral morphology and inflorescence architecture. Although multiple genes are involved in the regulation of floral organogenesis, our understanding of the underlying regulating network is still fragmentary. MADs-box genes are principle members in the ABCDE model that characterized floral organs. OsMADS1 specifies the de...

The transition to flowering is a tightly controlled developmental decision in plants. In Arabidopsis, LEAFY (LFY) and APETALA1 (AP1) are key regulators of this transition and expression of these genes in primordia produced by the inflorescence meristem confers floral fate. Here, we examine the role of architectural regulators BLADE-ON-PETIOLE1 (BOP1) and BOP2 in promotion of floral meristem ide...
